If you've reached Gold or Platinum status this year, the offerings might be a bit underwhelming. This year Club Nintendo chose to forego physical rewards and instead, are offering downloadable games for the Wii U and 3DS. Here's the list of titles to pick from:

Gold/Platinum

  • Ice Climber (Wii U)
  • Kid Icarus (Wii U)
  • Super Mario Bros. (Wii U)
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Wii U)
  • Donkey Kong 3 (3DS)
  • Wario Land 2 (3DS)
  • Metroid (3DS)
  • Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS)

Platinum

  • Game & Wario (Wii U)
  • NES Remix (Wii U)
  • Earthbound (Wii U)
  • Dr. Luigi (Wii U)
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS)
  • Fluidity: Spin Cycle (3DS)
  • Dillon's Rolling Western (3DS)
  • Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move (3DS)

If you were holding out for something like the Mario cap from 2009 (ironically, it's one of this year's Club Nintendo Platinum rewards in Australia), it's disheartening to see that the money you spent is being rewarded by items that aren't really unique and have a maximum value of $10. I've only reached Platinum status once a couple of years ago and had to choose between a pack of playing cards, a calendar, and something else. I was a bit disappointed back then, but I guess it's better than nothing.
