Welcome to Craf-TAY Corner, the monthly feature that showcases the creative side of Talk Amongst Yourselves. If you do any kind of creative hobby from drawing to cosplay to model building, this is the place to talk about your ongoing and upcoming projects. Whether or not it's video game related doesn't matter, so long as it's something YOU did, we want to hear about and see it.
Despite the insanity that was Denver Comic Con, I actually got quite a bit done in May. My cosplay is coming along nicely and a bunch of you probably think you know what my costume is going to be. You're probably right...at least partially. The biggest part of my costume isn't done yet, and that's the part that will bring the whole thing together. Later this month a Joann's Fabrics is moving into my town and having their opening. I'm hoping they'll have some good opening sales so I can get the fabrics in the colors I need, otherwise I'll be forced to start dying. And for those who've never done dying before, it's a very messy process, much better to just buy fabrics in the shades you need rather than fighting big tubs of colored water.
Also this month I finished painting Bayonetta's face and you can really see the difference those black outlines make. Now I've run out of excuses and it's time to start working on her actual outfit. I've been stalling this until dead last because pattern making is such a hassle, and Bayonetta's outfit is really complicated. There will be a lot of curves and darts to get the shape skintight. But I didn't pick her because she's super easy, but because I like the character and the outfit.
Around TAY you guys have been very creative lately. JpSr388 started SunTAY Draw, which gives everyone a chance to doodle and practice their art skills, and LadyRose showed off some of her newest drawings. Zarnyx showed up all how to make the Kotaku fish for all your real life censoring needs. That's going to be plenty handy at cons, I'd imagine. And the always awesome StormBorn introduced everyone to the secret art of well, art, and showed everyone how he makes his super shiny drawings.
If you've finished any projects in May or are about to start one, talk about them in the comments below and show off your in progress pictures. If you want to get featured for next month's Craf-TAY Corner, start a thread in your Kinja blog and tag it 'Craf-TAY Corner' so I can actually find it. If you have any questions, comment or contact me via my ConTAYct Page.
