I've spoken about starting a game, a game similar to Fire Emblem. I'm still waiting on the funds to buy myself a new laptop so that I can begin coding work in earnest, but that's a few weeks off. That's still the plan, and I've even begun work on design documents for it, but today I started my fourth play through of Fire Emblem: Awakening. I'm telling myself it's for research, that it'll help me understand the nuances behind the game, but really I get the feeling that I'm about to lose yet another 15o plus hours of my life to this game. I must say, I don't mind. I think I will nominate this game as my GOTY, and the series for my favorite series of all time, from the humor to the thought provoking game play I don't really see myself pouring this much time and energy into another series. I'm going to begin to keep a spreadsheet of values as I start this game, to get an idea of what the math behind the scenes is like. If anyone here has any knowledge about strategy game math, or knows of a resource I could learn from, I would be super appreciative.
