"Excluding same-sex couples from marriage has done little to keep Oklahoma families together thus far, as Oklahoma consistently has one of the highest divorce rates in the country." -Judge Terrence Kern, who ruled on this ban.
Christianists are fuming. Bryan Fischer of AFA touts that by allowing gay marriage, we're "gonna eventually allow pedophilia, bestiality, incest-type marriages," lost on the history that his predecessors (maybe even his dad) have said the same thing about interracial marriages and cases such as Loving VS Virginia and Perez VS Lippold.
While this is a good day, Oklahoma's LGBT is not out of the woods yet. Kern has stayed the case, meaning that OK's not yet a legal state for gay marriage, while awaiting appeals. On top of that, OK Gov. Mary Fallin is anti-gay herself.
Congrats and good luck, LGBT Oklahoma citizens!!
