I was craving some BK on the way home, and since there's one right off my freeway exit, I decided to swing by the drive through.
Here's the official pictures of the Big King, BK's answer to rival McDonald's Big Mac.
And here's a couple of pictures of the actual Big King I got from my order. As you can see, not quite as pictured.
The main differences from the Big Mac is instead of shredded lettuce and diced onions, you get leaves of lettuce and sliced onions. And the burger has that "grilled" taste, instead of the fried taste of the Big Mac patties.
One thing they have in common, they're not as big as they look in the pictures. Here's a shot of the bottom burger.
And the top layer.
But if you like the taste of a Big Mac, which I do, then you'll like the Big King just fine. I love greasy fast food, and this didn't disappoint. So to answer the question in the title, no it's not "better" and I personally prefer the Big Mac, but it's pretty close and good enough if it's easier to get to.
And since Burger King currently has a 2 for $5 deal on a few of their sandwiches, I was also able to try out their new Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It wasn't especially spicy, and it's just the chicken filet with lettuce and mayo, but it was still good enough, and a bit better when I added some onion rings and ketchup. Speaking of which, BK is the only fast food place I know that makes bite sized onion rings, which is great because then you don't end up with the breading falling off.
So if you like fast food, you'll like either (or both) of these choices. And if you don't, you probably shouldn't be going to Burger King anyway. And let me know if any of my pictures got Kinja'd.
