Tired of Dyram using the same picture for the Open Forum every day? No worries! Your best friend, TheUnfathomableTruth, is here! Oh, what's that? You're also tired of seeing Metal Gear-related stuff on TAY? Oh, ok, in that case, skip the main topic then :P
You know, out of all the cover art for the series, Portable Ops has my favorite. It's actually also one of my favorite games in the series. It was a different style of stealth than that of the usual linear-type encountered in the rest of the series. You had a nice map, 360° of strategy, and more importantly, more comrades on the field. It paved the way to Peace Walker in various ways, and really made me feel like FOXHOUND was actually a special forces group, and not, well, a bunch of lunatics who knew cinematic Wushu . . .
*SPOILERS FOR METAL GEAR SOLID* *DON'T EVEN READ THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO* *YEA, I KNOW IT'S AN OLD GAME, BUT SOME PEOPLE STILL HAVEN'T PLAYED IT (COUGH COUGH NERYL COUGH)*
But as I was saying, the game had a very nice feel to it. The atmosphere, the soundtrack (My God, the soundtrack!) and even the story was nice . . . which is why I'm disappointed that Kojima's hesitant to acknowledge it's stance in the series' canon. "But TUT, the story in the MGS series is absolute rubbish!". Oh, be quiet you. I actually like the story . . . as ridiculous as it is sometimes, ok? And I felt that MPO had quite a bit to offer . . . So what about you other MGS fans? Am I alone in this? I mean, the sole reason I bought a PSP was for this game .
Also, this was posted at 12:-something AM because I'm fed up with trying to get the scheduling to work, and thus decided to just say "fuck it" and posted it then ^^ Also, how come the "^^" isn't italicized? I'm going to be terribly OCD about it >:I
