God morgon på er!

So apparently I got today off at work. They said something about it being the national day of Sweden. Which apparently is deal here. I was about to say “ big deal”, but no, it’s not even that.

National day of Sweden is kinda weird. Because there isn’t much tradition in celebrating it. It became a holiday only fairly recently, and no one really knows what to do with it. I’ve never celebrated it, even if I am not opposed to idea of doing it. But I think it would have been better if they made Midsummer day the national day instead. Because thats just got a much more stronger tradition, and it’s pretty much already is unofficially.

I’m not really the patriotic sort. Never get people who says they are “proud of their country”, I am proud over things I had a part in doing. Being born in a adequate country I had little to do with. I feel like it should be “being thankful of for being lucky enough to be born in that country” instead. Although I guess that’s not as catchy for the nationalists.

Talking about your country on the internet, especially the English speaking parts, I’ve always felt was kinda boring and unconstructive. It usually leads to the other speaking out the first thing they know about Sweden. Like “Ooh, Ikea land!” and then then making some obvious joke you never heard a million times before. But because of today, and that I can’t really think of any other subjects, let’s dive into that subject. Let’s hear your thoughts on a country, you probably don’t have much thoughts about! :)

Also don’t forget that Pokemon Direct should be live now at the exact time this is posted. You can check it out here. (EDIT: Already over.)

Here are some subjects:

  • What are you thoughts about Sweden?
  • How do you feel about the country (Or alternatively “state”) you are currently located in?
  • Which country would you like to visit that you haven’t?
  • Or talk about anything!

Title of the song translated: It would be easy for me to admit that I can’t find my way home, but I do, I think.
