Good evening and welcome to Word of the Day! A journey through the English vocabulary and the words that piqued my interest, in WotD we'll be learning a new word for each working day of the week, bar holidays, unless there's a holiday special...
Today's word is:
verb [ intrans. ]
- Accept something reluctantly but without protest : Sara acquiesced in his decision.
ORIGIN: early 17th cent.: from Latin acquiescere, from ad- 'to, at' + quiescere 'to rest.'
Back when I used to collect albums, I was a huge fan of Oasis... and well one of their songs from my favorite album of theirs is called 'Acquiesce' I always wondered what the word meant, but never searched for the meaning... until today ^^
