Good evening and welcome to Word of the Day! A journey through the English vocabulary and the words that piqued my interest, in WotD we'll be learning a new word for each working day of the week, bar holidays, unless there's a holiday special...

Today's word is:

lackadaisical

|ˌlakəˈdāzikəl|

adjective

  • Lacking enthusiasm and determination; carelessly lazy : a lackadaisical defense left the Spurs adrift in the second half.

ORIGIN: mid 18th cent. (also in the sense [feebly sentimental] ): from the archaic interjection lackaday, lackadaisy (see Alack ) + -ical .

Ermm, just a slightly more negative word to yesterday's nonchalant, found it out of curiosity so there's no story to accompany the word today, or maybe I simply don't feel like making up a story... you people figure it out ^^;
