Welcome, one and all, to this week's meeting of AniClub. I can't think of anything witty for the opening statement so you'll have to make do with this terribly generic opening paragraph.
1. Do not discuss past the covered episode in the post. Because people are expected to have already watched the week's episodes, spoiler tags are unnecessary.
2. If you've seen the series beforehand, please don't ruin the fun for others and spoil the story (especially with Steins;Gate!). Discussion of such material is not prohibited but please exercise caution in posting. If you really wish to discuss material further along than what we've watched (which is fun for a series like Steins;Gate because of the time travel mechanic which reveals unexplained stuff in the earlier episodes), please put bountiful and large spoiler warnings. Replies to spoiler-y material should also have spoiler warnings.
3. GIFs are appreciated. Have fun and be nice or whatever!
So...first off, how the heck did Feyris' kidnapping thing work? She was probably just at home so his dad could've easily texted someone to check on her. Her kid self probably doesn't know that she's plotting a fake kidnapping for her dad to come home. Furthermore, once her dad cancels the flight, why does he still sell the IBN 5100? It's not like there's actually an organization/group that kidnapped Feyris. When he got home he probably hugged Feyris, cried, then spent the rest of the day with her. And who offered to buy the IBN? Who would he send the money to? I don't know, I hope I just forget about the solution and that it's actually in the latter episodes. It's a weak point in what is a pretty strong series, plot-wise. I guess it can't be helped seeing how this is a time travel story.
So, who else got Daru correctly as Suzu's father? I totally didn't. I know some of you (Koda!) did! It's cute but totally makes Daru's sexual advances a bit awkward in retrospect. Also, that part where she failed was harrowing.
And, please remind me, what's the order of these events: Feyris' D-Mail, Ruka's D-Mail, Rainstorm. When did Suzuha leave? Things are starting to get a bit hard to follow chronologically...
Probably one thing I didn't like about this set of episodes is that they made Ruka and Feyris like Okarin in a more romantic manner. Thankfully it was more of an aside rather than the focus or a huge plot point. And it made for quite a fun break in an otherwise bleak series of events.
Also, what was that thing about handkerchiefs? I didn't quite get that.
Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without me fawning over Kurisu and Okarin. Episode 18 was just great for Okarin x Kurisu moments.
Oh, and I'm on time with posting when I said I wouldn't be. Heh.
Please don't forget to watch the next three episodes of Steins;Gate (19-21) for next week's meeting.
Just another random Kurisu pic...
