I have made a buttload of progress since last week. I’ve now completed almost 60% of the objectives in Arkham Knight and I’m almost through with the main story.

When I last left off playing, I had just finished a tank battle with the game’s titular antagonist, only for him to escape in the following cutscene. Well, I played just a little more after that, completing some mundane objectives as well as finally finishing off the bulk of the Riddler storyline, but we’ll come back to that later. Through this chunk of the story, Batman has been very focused on learning the identity of the Arkham Knight. I figured it out a while back, like when I initially played the game before I took a break from it, or at least I had a hunch then. The game has made it all but obvious who he is at this point, pretty much confirming my suspicions, but Batman still hasn’t figured it out. I’m sure he will very soon.

But yeah, all that stuff was quite fun, even if the tank battle sequence was very challenging. The challenge came from figuring out the best way to kite around the buildings and enemies, but once I got into a good pattern, it got easier. Other parts of my playing this week were a bit more infuriating. I’ve had fun driving around in the Batmobile, but the Riddler’s final Batmobile challenge was rage inducing. The first two laps were fine, but the last lap I had to redo like 30+ times. Thankfully, you can repeat a lap if you fail instead of having to do all 3 again. The last leg of the final lap requires a wall ride of a pretty good length while also dodging crushers that have a very hard to predict pattern and tend to land just fractions of a second faster than you can drive. It would be okay if the Batmobile didn’t handle like ass, but it does, so it was awful. I did it though, and the Riddler’s final puzzle was nothing compared to this. Then it was time for the boss fight against him, but halfway through he closed himself off from attacks and said he would only continue the fight if I solved all the riddles and challenges he spread throughout the city. I was planning on doing that anyway since I did for the previous Arkham games, but that’ll probably be after I finish the main story.

Anyway, enough rambling from me. I’m super happy with the progress I’ve made this week, and I’m hoping to finish the game off within the next one if I don’t get too distracted by Stellaris again. As I’m likely going to be done before the next progress report, it’s time to pick my next game. What should I play? Here’s my list of games that I’ve started and want to finish:

  • Majora’s Mask
  • A Link Between Worlds
  • Arkham Knight
  • Far Cry 3
  • Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Subnautica
  • Mass Effect Andromeda
