I'm really feeling it!

Bountiful Blissey! Pokemon One a Day, Series 2!

Day 91

Happiness Pokemon

How was your weekend guys? Mine was planning out the following 2 weeks...The last 10 illustrations! They’re all going to be heavy hitters, with some new concepts/ideas to work in for a few of them! That said, we start the week off with Blissey! As she’s the last “normal” Pokemon I’ll be drawing for the series, I decided to send her off with a little more oomph than usual.

As I couldn’t come up with a style for her per se, I decided to think of a way to play up the healing/Pokemon center connection she has. I sort of thought about an advertisement of sorts, with her being sort of a central figure/mascot. That evolved when I thought I should get all the ladies that take care of us in the games, including multiple stages of Blissey with Chansey and Happiny.

I pushed Blissey of course to the front to get the most of the spotlight, and kept a similar theme/palette in design to usher in the surrounding elements/atmosphere. Originally, I had OG Joy with a Happiny in her apron but thought it would be cool to have a fledgeling new New Joy as part of the team, who was carrying Happiny to balance the composition with two characters on either side of Blissey.

The end result is a piece I really enjoy, and it was a change of pace to how I approach my work. I was chill and laid back...Maybe it’s the characters, the color palette...All of it definitely made the experience its own thing and I’m happy to share it with you guys. Hope you all enjoy and thank you for your continued viewing!

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Love and peace,
