The first milestone is complete! The starters and their families are finished! Amazing!
What'll be more amazing is how many of you will continue to stick with me with this project XD This is where the mettle of your audienceship is tested...Can you sit through the Caterpie and Weedle families?
I'll try to provide interesting and entertaining illustrations, so you be the judge and sit tight! As I mentioned, these guys aren't the coolest of Pokemon, but they're part of the line up and must be interpretted for this project. I have no qualms as they offer a nice change of pace when it came to delivering to expectation...Is that lazy on my part..? :P
Caterpie's form was something I wanted to explore using strict shapes, in this case...circles, obviously. The shape is featured all over in his design: his large eyes, the segments of his body, and the circular markings on those segments. I used the circle outlines to dissect the form and kept the coloring flat except for around his little arm/leg thingmajiggers.
So that's it for week 2! As always, weekends are off from this project. That way I give full attention to my other projects. Thanks for looking and reading, and be sure to share this project with other fans!
+ Pokemon One a Day is a series illustrated and curated by Bonny John in an effort to represent the entire catalogue of characters from the world wide phenomenon that is known as Pokemon. The idea is simple - to draw and share one new Pokemon a day (weekends off!) until every Pokemon is completed. This project is an exploration of fine art styles for learning and leisurely purposes.
