War! Hoo! Yeah. What is it good for? Challenger Approaching!
In last weeks edition of Challenger Approaching I covered a classic character from the days of 8-bit greatness. This week we take a step into the future with a striking young lad known for his helpful spirit and enormous wrenches.
Notable Appearances: Advance Wars (GBA, 2001), Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising (GBA, 2003), Advance Wars: Dual Strike (DS, 2005)
Bio: The first controllable Commanding Officer in the Advance Wars series, Andy is a young buck with a flair for repair. Well equipped with tools and weapons alike, he fights valiantly beside his Orange Star crew. Andy is basically the Mario of the Advance Wars world. He has no advantages or disadvantages in fights, but he can still get the job done. It's been eight years since we've seen him in action, so it's only fitting that he joins the fray.
Attack Plan: In my mind Andy is a different kind of fighter. As his focus in Advance War was repairing and healing others I think it would interesting to make his move set include the ability to heal himself. I don't mean all the way, just bit by bit. That being said, he also needs to put those wrenches to good use. He actually has a move in Advance Wars called "Power Wrench" and I would love to see that incorporated into some of his attacks. Much like Ratchet, of Ratchet and Clank fame, I could see Andy hurling his wretch with deadly accuracy as well as beating his opponents silly at close range. Throw in a few war related moves such as mines and maybe a mini tank for him to scoot around in (a la Wario's motorcycle) and you've got a solid contender.
