It’s Christmas time and I’m here to deliver a Delibird illustration for all the good boys and girls who follow my One a Day series! The creature is a rather strange entity thanks in part to it’s very specific design created in homage to a materialistic symbol/icon representative of the biggest religious holiday in North America.
Wrapping paper was the way to go for our style and it was something I thought of right away - Christmas is comprised of many elements and traditions and gift giving is one of them, and is the major crux of Delibird’s existence. I thought it’d be a fun way to play up the art style of the day using clean symbols and imagery and tile it up for a full illustration.
I wanted to make Delibird the main focus so he’s the biggest element and your eye is drawn to him as such. To further accentuate focus, I used white to lift him above the red ribbon for extra pop. The other characters selected were all done to push the Christmas theme and help the patterns.
You’ve got Deerling as Rudolph, Vanillite as a tree ornament, Chingaling as a Bell/Mistletoe, Cryooganal as a snowflake, and a Snover x Staryu for Christmas tree and star. You’ll probably want to expand the wallpaper to see a better look at those guys!
So yeah, here’s some designer wallpaper for you guys! Be sure to use it when Christmas rolls around! Thank you for checking in my friends! Merry Christmas and Happy Thursday!
QOTD: Who else might make great holiday characters for wrapping paper? Or, link them to your favorite holiday films!
