What a thrilling weekend for Super Nintendo enthusiasts!
I somehow missed this MSU1 sound enhancement patch released last month by hacker Con, responsible among others for the The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past MSU1 treatment. This is a dream come true, one of my biggest “I hope someone does it” wishes for the CD quality soundtrack treament, everyone’s favourite Nintendo neglected franchise: F-Zero. There are already a few different soundacks available, including one that replaces the music with it’s Nintendo 64 counterpart, but I decided to make a video using something a little more familiar to SNES veterans. Please take a look.
Now most of you certainly know a certain someone who is not only the regular TAY F-Zero nutcase (there is one for every community, you know the guys on the back screaming “Where is F-Zero?” at every e3) and also likes to make some music. As such, we reached out to Shiryu and asked him if he had plans to make a sound pack for this MSU1 hack like he has done before for other games.
“Yes, I will whenever I get some free time to sit down and do it. Now get that microphone off my face.”
Strong words from the egomaniac artist we all know and love. And what about you, fellow TAYlanders, any opinions on this new take on old classics? Any favourite old games you would like to see get the treatment? This particular author has his fingers crossed for ActRaiser and Super Ghouls’n’Ghost...
