Welcome to Day 5 of Fallout week. Yesterday, I did a brief rundown on my favourite weapons. I said I was going to talk about secondary characters today, but Bethesda did us a solid, and dropped the Fallout 4 Launch Trailer yesterday... while I wasn’t looking. So, let’s have a quick breakdown of what it offered us.
The trailer kicks off by giving us the basic origin of our protagonist, the Sole Survivor. From what we can assume, the Sole Surivivor may have been a soldier before the Great War occured, quite possibly on the frontlines in China or Anchorage.
We are then spoken to by a women who I believe to be a part of the Railroad.
The Railroad, is the organization trying to free android/synth slaves from servitude and moving them out of the Commonwealth. This women might be our contact within the Railroad, or the leader.
We are then re-introduced to the Brotherhood of Steel and their airship.
This trailer adds motive to why the BoS are in the Commonwealth. They are opposing the Institute (a cancer that needs to be cut), which have apparently much more illusive. We also get our first eyes on the leader of this faction of the BoS.
We are then introduced to one of our companions we can obtain in the game, John Hancock.
He speaks of the “real” enemy. I have no idea who he could be pointing fingers at. It could be the Brotherhood, or the Institute or possibly a 3rd faction.
Then we see Diamond City, housed in the old ruins of Fenway Park.
In the city and possibly other places. There seems to be a sense of paranoia going around.
It seems that some people are accusing others of being synths. Kinda feeling a major Blade Runner/Replicant situation going on. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a character named Deckard who hunts synths.
Diamond City is also home to another companion of ours, named Piper.
We then get a look at some combat. I gotta say I’m liking the less cluttered HUD.
Preston Garvey makes another appearance in this trailer. He’s all into protecting the weak, with his Minutemen.
Then it’s time for some civil defense people!
Then we get a lovely view of the I believe is the Glowing Sea, a section of the coast which is highly irradiated.
The BoS Knights getting the ODST treatment.
He then goes on to state that they will be saving humanity from their biggest threat. Dependant on what faction of the BoS he’s apart of, it could mean themselves to something else.
We then get a look at the Railroad HQ and logo.
Seems nice and hidden way.
We then get to see tons of Deathclaw action, and the ominous “you don’t find the Institute, they find you line”
Then a creepy older synth.
We end with a beautiful picture of the fall of the Prydwing, the BoS ariship.
The game is only 4 days away now and I can’t wait to get my hands on it after this trailer.
With all the Synth paranoia, there better be a Blade Runner homage where you need to determine if someone is a Synth through dialogue.
The weekend is tomorrow, and with it comes the “Wild Wasteland Weekend” special.
