Finding the motivation to write has increasingly become a struggle for me as of late. Back when I first started writing for TAY I was churning out articles left and right, but that is no longer the case. I would like to change that.
Even writing for Spacemon, my ongoing written adaptation of the tabletop RPG campaign I’m in, has been harder. When I first started working on it I was able to churn out the chapters for each session before the next week’s session even happened. Now, it takes a lot of work to motivate myself to write for it.
For this particular series, I’ve tried many strategies from participating in Nanowrimo events, to trying to make myself write for an hour a day, to trying to week a weekly release schedule. My latest attempt is this SixTAY Days of Writing thing we’ve just started here on TAY.
Originally, I wasn’t planning on writing a post a day for the duration of the challenge and was only just going to use it as a means to motivate myself to work on Spacemon, but seeing those who have chosen to participate posting all this great work reminds me of the TAY of old, where there were so many good things to read every day. It has also inspired me to try to post something every day for this challenge as well.
There’s just one problem: I don’t know what to write. Sure, I’ve got an Open Forum and a Spacemon post coming out every week, but that still leaves 42 days of the challenge to fill with content. Sure, there are a few article ideas of been sitting on for months or even years, and I could do something crazy like start posting two Spacemon posts a week right now (which is something I plan to do eventually once I have a sufficient backlog of posts written), I still have a lot of space to fill. I sat down today to write something and found myself at a loss, and now here I am writing about how I don’t know what to write about.
For the first time in a long time I have a strong motivation and drive to write, but I don’t have the inspiration. I need ideas for what to write. So I turn to you, people of TAY: what shall I write about? What topics would you like to hear my perspective on? What silly ideas should I try? Inspire me, TAY!
