I'm really feeling it!

Game Night Recap for July 3, 2013 (and Future Plans)

This Wednesday was TAY's first Game Night, and it was fantastic.

Uncharted 3 can totally be fun if you play it with the right people, and those same right people (by which I mean you all) just happened to usually kick my butt more than I anticipated.

Okay, I'll admit, we didn't have a ton of people show up, but it seemed completely fine. Uncharted 3 has a maximum amount of 10 players, anyways, so the number of people we had didn't seem too small or too big. It was just about the right size for a get-TAYgether.

At first, I was doing okay, but mainly because I was being either ridiculously sneaky or using annoying tactics, like those grenades that just happened to fall out of my pockets during our fistfights.

Sometimes my constant desire for "sneakiness" would totally be to my detriment, though, and I would be sneaking up behind someone while they were getting riddled with bullets. Of course, this let their assaulter get a double kill. I still won our first couple of FFA games by being a stealthy butt, though.

But as we started to progress into more team-oriented games, I started doing a lot worse. Luckily, UI and Kluge, who I both got the pleasure of sharing a team with at separate times, totally carried me through our matches. UI just...always knew when to be at the right place at the right time. His timing was fantastic, and he saved us a few key points numerous times. Kluge was just out of my league entirely.

I think the team matches were still my favorite part of the night, and if you didn't stay long enough/didn't get in early enough to be in one, I'm sorry you missed them.

The night had a few hiccups, like when I couldn't start a game, or when those games would randomly end mid-match. Although, I have to note that I'm still not sure if random ending of the match is caused by someone trying to quit. There was also a ton of user-error on my part (sorry I never invited you on time, Pistachew [xDonxQuijotex], just know that xDonQuijotex must hate me for spamming him so much). Overall, despite me being semi-clueless and a klutz, I had a blast.

My favorite moment of the night is when Cheroro and I, who both used the same character, met on top of a building and started flailing wildly at one another to try to melee, but we just out of reach from each other. Also, any time I pulled someone out of a window or off from the top of a building. That was wonderful.

For those of you that showed up, what was your favorite moment last night?

Actually, let's talk some more about Game Night:

I'll post an article Friday about the 360 meeting and what game we'll be playing for the PC (hopefully).

For the 360 meeting, I need a volunteer to lead it, and more importantly, people to show interest. DocSeuss volunteered to lead it, but he won't be in until 9:30pm EDT, so anyone who can make it for 9pm EDT would be fantastic. Let me know tomorrow what you think about the 360 Game Night.

The PC game won't be announced for a bit if the Steam Sale does start on Thursday (today). This will let me get a good look at what games are being offered and what a good thing to co-op would be.

The Euro-Centric times for Game Night will be voted on most likely next week. Just like with the 360, I'll need someone to volunteer to help lead it, and you can volunteer when I post the polls next week.

Also, what do you all think about the length of the session, in general? Should it last a bit longer than it was? I originally had it planned for two hours (which I, of course, forgot to mention until the day of the session), but I can stay around longer and try to keep it going if you all want.

Either way, I wanted to let everyone know that despite what common sense might tell you, I had a ton of fun getting shot repeatedly and punched in the face every thirty seconds. I can't wait to see you all next week to do it some more.

Some quick notes to put on the end of this:

  • We now have a Steam community! Click here to join our mulTAYplayer group!
  • Game Night is every Wednesday and every other Monday at 9pm EDT (1am GMT).
  • Our next meeting will be on Monday, July 8th on the 360, details on which will be posted tomorrow.
