Hey everyone! Sorry for the late notice, but the Graveyard Shift is going to take a one night hiatus. The staff is currently mourning the death of Club Nintendo's awesomeness. It crashed and burned earlier this morning into a pile of downloadable title vouchers.
Okay, convincing enough, right? Good. Happy April Fools' Day, everyone! I had to get that last one in before the day was done. I am totally willing to have half of the crowd miss this just for the sake of the holiday. I'm just that evil.
The Graveyard Shift - Disappointment Edition
Hey everyone! Welcome to the Graveyard Shift, the nightly hang-out hosted by Kotaku's reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about anything - your lives, your gaming habits, or whatever else you desire. Hop on in and join the discussion! When you're done here, you could always go check out the articles over at TAY or TAYClassic! Or, if this is your first time at TAY, please check out this TAYtorial!
A lot of things happened today, TAY. Not only did we have a pretty news-worthy Nintendo Direct presentation, but the Club Nintendo Rewards came out and a lot of companies decided that today would be the absolute best day ever to release some new stuff. Personally, I'm excited about SMTxFE, which finally got... well, an incredibly Anime-esque trailer, to say the least.
But, if you couldn't tell from my little spiel above (which better work so I don't look like a fool), it's also April Fools' Day. There's rarely a better time to talk about things that annoyed the crap out of you or disappointed you as April 1st—chiefly because a lot of people annoy the crap out of you and disappoint you. It's like the best time to be disappointed ever.
Let's just go ahead and use this time to... what would it be called? Disappointed Amongst Ourselves? DAO? Yeah, we'll call it a DAO.
I'll go ahead and leave the easiest disappointment, spawned by Nintendo, for you all to talk to (I of course am talking about the fact that we weren't all sent 1/2 Scale Reggie high-five assistants as Club Nintendo Platinum rewards). Instead, I'll go ahead and be somewhat "out there" and express disappointment in something else: Bloodborne.
Bloodborne has a really hard boss in the game. I wouldn't exactly call it a secret boss, but you can access it by putting in the right set of buttons from the very first moment you start the game. If you go forward for a bit, right until the first enemy, and click the right thumbstick, you'll activate Camera Boss. Camera Boss spends most of his time following you around and heckling you during other boss fights by casting Blind on you whenever you click the right thumbstick. I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to let players fight two bosses at the same time, but they did.
But besides that, the game is good. Just that camera, though. Blech.
Anyway, my fellow TAYers, feel free to DAO amongst yourselves. Were you disappointed by the Club Nintendo rewards? By Splatoon being released too far away? By a really dumb joke your coworker or classmate pulled? Talk about it down below.
Trying to stay positive? Well then, feel free to talk about life, love, gaming, or whatever else you desire. The Wednesday Graveyard Shift is now open!
