Just like places around the world, DC does not leave me wanting for artistic inspiration. With so many museums and events focused on the arts it’s hard not to be fired up with new ideas. Last night we had an event called “Nuit Blanche”. It was an essentially an art crawl, with people viewing contemporary works (and drinking along the way). Now I’m a sucker for contemporary art. There’s something about the open interpretation of form and color (and occasionally function) that breathes life into me. But that isn’t to say that every form of art, classical to contemporary, sculpture to gif-making, isn’t valid! That’s one of the beauties of the art world! Everything is on the table!
Today’s Quick-Draw Theme(s):
We’re keeping with the new standard of two themes. Choose one or both, whatever fits your fancy!
In keeping with the contemporary art (or just art) idea, lets reimagine characters and scenes in new and inventive ways (a la Bonny’s Pokemon-A-Day). There’s a lot of directions to go with this, so maybe choose a path you wouldn’t take normally, or one that is counter-intuitive for the character you’re drawing!
The temperature has dipped enough this weekend for long sleeves. It’s gonna be sweater weather (and cuffing season soon!) So let’s see what you’re favorite game characters do to prepare for the season! Are they basic and drink Pumpkin Spice things? Are they more excentrice and have more wild tastes? Are they scarf people? Show us what you think here!
The rules are simple:
- You have a single sheet of paper to draw a scene.
- Give yourself 20- 30 minutes of uninterrupted concept/drawing time.
- After the the time is up, put down your pencil/pen/stylus and upload your work in the comments.
- Be sure to comment on other’s works as well! We have plenty of talented TAY residents around here!
