Okay guys...It officially begins...The push into the legendaries of the Johto Pokedex! As this whole series has seen some radical departures in how I tackled the styles, I thought I would try something new for the legendary beasts of Johto. Starting with Raikou, I’m going to build up a piece for the trio of dog-cats that we’ll watch evolve over the next few days!
So let me stress this now: THIS IS NOT THE FINISHED PIECE. It is beyond likely that the final composition will evolve well past what I have here! Over the weekend, I began sketching out ideas to implement for a piece depicting the trio, and today I began to implement it with intention to spread the work over three days. I’ll do my best to follow that but with the nature of how art works is that you’re always adapting to new ideas and concepts that come with time.
I won’t share the Work in Progress shots yet, and save that for the last day since it has some preliminary sketches of the others! I guess that means...Well, I can’t discuss much about the art since I’m looking at it as one whole rather than just Raikou as seen here!
Anyway, I’m really excited about sharing this little experience/concept/direction of art with you guys, and heck, maybe feedback you guys give can help shape the work as it goes. With the legendary beasts, I wanted to tackle something new so I think this idea of giving them one shared piece (they’re inseparable, coming back from the dead together will do that) is going to be really fun.
See you tomorrow with Entei!
Love and peace,
