I'm really feeling it!

Well, it didn't take long for the World Cup to get into gear. The second day of the tournament started off a bit slowly with Mexico edging out Cameroon 1-0. The referee was once again a controversial figure, ruling out two goals from Giovani dos Santos in the first half, the second of which seemed like an awful decision. Mexico continued to fight for the win and breakthrough came from Oribe Peralta, who pounced on the rebound from dos Santos' saved shot. Cameroon showed glimpses of quality through set-pieces and it seemed like their best opportunities came through the link-up between Choupo-Moting and Eto'o.

The second game, however, produced one of the memorable matches of the tournament, including a contender for goal of the tournament. The Spain - Netherlands match-up was a chance for the Netherlands to avenge themselves after losing 1 - 0 in the last World Cup's final. Things seemed to be going well for Spain when Diego Costa controversially won a penalty (never a pk) which Xabi Alonso converted. Unfortunately, it all fell apart for them at the brink of half-time when Robin van Persie peeled away from his man and scored an audacious header from the edge of the 10 yard box. Arjen Robben scored 8 minutes into the second half with a lovely bit of skill to get past Ramos and Pique before coolly slotting past Casillas. The floodgates were open from then on out with Spain's number one keeper, Iker Casillas, clearly rattled. He allowed Stefan de Vrij to score from a corner at the far post, and then was lackadaisical in possession 7 minutes later as he gifted the ball to RVP, who obliged with an easy finish. Robben made a lung-busting run to get past the defense before confusing Casillas and taking his time to add the fifth. A lot is going to be said about Spain and whether this is the end of tiki-taka and if they should still be considered favorites. I'd dismiss these notions, but the questions about Casillas remaining the first-choice keeper definitely carry merit.

Chile scored two early goals, got cocky and let Australia get back in the game for the remainder of the match. It was a tussle between both teams, until Jean Beausejour scored a goal in the 90th minute ^^ Chile won three to one
