Day 75

Kite Pokemon

Yay!!! 75 days, 75 illutrations - another milestone! This means only another 25 to go and I’M FREEEeEeEe!!! Can’t wait hehe. Today, let’s keep things simple so we can enjoy our Friday and take a look at Mantine, flying high in the sky! (no 420 yolo ok)

Mantine as a kite, cause it’s the kite Pokemon...Kept things simple with a clean illustration that I envisioned early on in my head. I used a stock photo for the sky and added cartoony clouds to create some sort of nostalgic look like this was a memory for a kid in the Johto region.

To add some pizazz, I wanted to make sure Remoraid got in on the action so I bedazzled the kite with “streamers” of Remoraid, and made the lower fin a Remoraid for symmetry sake and break up the sea of blue that is the underbelly.

I kept decals simple and minimum and played with a lot of layers on this one. I used a reference for the kite and seeing all those photos of colorful kites makes me want to go out and fly one. Never have! I read this amazing book by Khaled Hosseini entitled “The Kite Runner” a while back which remains one of my favorites to this day and I’ve been wanting to fly a kite since...Mantine has reminded me to go and do it.

Enjoy your weekend, folks! Thanks for bearing with me for another week. Another 25 more and we’ll be done!

Love and peace,
