Seems like I have read a ton of Nintendo related news this morning, so here is the most prominent articles summed up with some thoughts added in.
Lately, all we have heard about from Nintendo is about Mario Kart 8, Tomodachi Life, and some snip-its of Smash Bros. Wii U. But this left some people wondering what about Bayonetta 2? X? Hyrule Warriors (Name pending)? Shin Megami X Fire Emblem? Zelda Wii U?
Well, for everyone's information they confirmed these four: Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, X, and Smash Bros. Wii U. It's interesting that Zelda Wii U isn't confirmed (for some reason I thought it would be out in 2014), but it makes sense because we haven't seen any gameplay or heard anything about it. And it is also interesting that they are claiming that Monolith's X will be released this year, which we have only seen a short amount of gameplay from it. Knowing this makes me really excited for E3, because if they are aiming a 2014 launch for X , E3 should reveal some much awaited information.
Nintendo announced a while back that they were going to make a move into the mobile space, not with games, but with apps.
Nintendo's first app will pair with Mario Kart 8 via Mario Kart TV. It will allow you to watch saved highlights and view leaderboards. I think this is smart because other big triple A games have been doing this sort of thing for a while. Hopefully this is a success for Nintendo so that they can make something along the lines of what sony has done with the playstation app. Nintendo also said that sometime soon we could see a smartphone version of Miiverse as well. Which basically is the Nintendo app, assuming it lets you view your friends list and what not.
Personally, I was wondering when this would happen. Nintendo needs some boosts financially and when you look at how Disney's Infinity and Activision's Skylanders are performing you'd wonder why Nintendo hasn't jumped aboard this train.
Details are completely unknown about what kind of game it will be, but seeing as Wii U's gamepad is NFC capable, there really is no reason not to make an NFC game. I can just see a pokemon NFC game coming out for Wii U and those figurines would most likely sell like wildfire. Hell, even I think I'd give it a shot.
June Wii U update is going to allow Wii U owners to get into their games faster, and that is exactly what Nintendo wants.
This is some awesome news, the Wii U's boot-up time drives me crazy sometimes, especially when I compare it to my PS4, and even my PS3. 20 seconds is a huge improvement, and should destroy the frustration I have with Wii U boot-up.
Smart, because I need to get into games faster, now if only they would do away with the annoying switching between Wii and Wii U menus... I think if they did that I might even start to put my Wii U up near my PS3, but below my PS4 and PC in terms of favoritism.
Nintendo announced that Gamefreak will be remaking Pokemon Ruby and Saphire for the 3DS.
I only played a little bit of this generation of Pokemon so for me it will basically be a completely new experience for me. Honestly I didn't expect to see another Pokemon game so soon, but then again I tend to skip some of them due to the fact that I am not the biggest Pokemon fan in the world. But from what I've heard from everyone, Ruby is one of the best Pokemon games and I should be excited to see it in 3D, so I am.
There is no release date, let alone much information about the game other than it exists and will be released for 3DS. It should be interesting to see what they do differently now that the game will most likely be in 3D just like X and Y.
So what does everyone think about all of this? Was there any games you were hoping to be confirmed from Nintendo for 2014? Would you try a Pokemon/Nintendo NFC game? And why did it take Nintendo so long to get the Wii U to boot-up faster? Anyways... Have a great day everyone!
