Late last month, rumors began swirling that the Spyro trilogy remaster that has been teased for months(and almost certainly exists.) would launch in late 2018. However, a new rumor, which seems to have started with a Walmart Customer Service chat, suggests that the previous rumor was false. Now, obviously, this customer service rep could have been screwing with the person, but it wouldn’t be the first time an employee with knowledge like that was dumb enough to leak it, though it normally comes from GameStop or small European chains.
According to the “leak” the Spyro Treasure Trilogy remaster will drop towards the end of April or the beginning of May. This came after the customer service rep was questioned about MediEvil, which they said would go up for pre-order on April 10th and be available two weeks later with MediEvil II included(remastered or not wasn’t specified.). They then said that Spyro would release around the same time.
A part of me finds this hard to believe. Regardless of the publishers and developers involved, it seems off to me that they would have such a short announcement to release schedule. Granted, MediEvil was announced back in December, but we haven’t heard anything about it since. Generally remasters need time to build up at least some hype to drive their sales. Nostalgia alone won’t have longtime fans of these series scrambling to grab the game with only two weeks to scrape the cash together.
That being said, if this does turn out to be true, then far be it from me to look the other way. I’ll grab both of them up. Course, they’ll be competing with Yakuza 6 and God of War for my attention.
