Illustration for article titled PocketStation Reference on PSVita Music App

The 3.00 update for the PlayStation Vita added functionality with the PlayStation 4, but what users may not have noticed was an update on the Music App's icon. When the app is opened (but not entered by touching the 'start gate'), the CD is of a disc for "PlayStation Family Music". On the right is a hypothetical tracklist, listing Playstation consoles in release order.

What makes the list stand out is item 7, PocketStation. PocketStation was an old Memory Card device for the PSone with a monitor that acted a lot like the Virtual Memory Unit for the Dreamcast. It's listing after the PlayStation 4 suggests that it may have a more far-reaching release than just the Japan-only Vita App that was announced a few days ago.
