Day 35

Frog Pokemon

Who woulda thought that Poliwhirl would have gotten a split line evo? Personally, I would abolish Poliwrath altogether and have Politoed as the single evolution (and alter the design altogether) but that's besides the point! My illustration design for this one was to design a sort of garden statue that a family might have outside of their house!

Although, it ends up looking more like a painterly illustration, which I'm totally cool with. I was originally going to go with a statue that's been worn done to the surface with paint that's hanging on for dear life for color. Eventually, I began to fill in the surface of the creature because of the fact that I really fleshed it out in the early stages.

To be honest, I don't think I could recreate a look of a withered statue. I looked up a lot of statues and thought I had in my mind the vision of what it would look like but when I tried to recreate it, it looked really off. At the end of the day, this route came out a lot better as it carries a sort of playful tone.

As I went along, I defined the little "diorama" with more pond like elements like the catfish tails and water as I realized we were dealing with a frog, which escaped me for the longest time hehe. The stylized grass was done last and I love how it came out. I think I'll use that sorta style to get backgrounds for Best Club is Best!

So there you go guys! The week wraps up with another straight 5, so that's always an accomplishment! No new SeeBonnyDraw this week, but we'll have one the week after and then no more as I'll be working on my other main project. Thanks guys for tuning in! Question of the Day!

If you wanted to buy a garden statue for your house, of which Pokemon would it be and why?

Enjoy your weekend!
