Yeah, yeah, I know, video game movies have yet to produce anything good, no matter the source material. This, though... this actually looks kinda promising.

Starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons, and directed by Justin Kurzel (who gave us last year’s excellent adaptation of Macbeth), this is what we’re getting in place of a game this year. This trip down history lane takes us to the Spanish Inquisition (not sure anyone was expecting that for a setting... wink wink, nudge nudge), and as you’d expect it involves an Animus, Abstergo plotting, parkour, and sweet sweet sword based combat.

Hopefully this comes with a coherent and/or fun story this time around. Assassin’s Creed is out on [checks date] oh you’ve got to be kidding me: December 21st, 2016.

This also marks the second time Kotaku has beaten me to the punch on an article. Maybe I should’ve applied for a position after all...
