I don't have much to say about today's artist, because there is almost no information on them out there. I don't even know if it's a single guy or a group of people. All I know is that they were the first release on the Vertical label group's new Organic label.
Their first and only album, Habit Forming, is one of my favorites. It features a blend of synthesized blips and acoustic instruments to make a unique sound that would be at home in an indie film. A huge selection of instruments spans the album with some tracks using all sorts of orchestral, jazz and folk sounds as well as lyric-less female vocals. All of this is tied up by moving, dramatic string sections, syncopated drum lines and the electroacoustic experimentation. Seriously, give the whole album a listen. I can't imagine a general music fan not enjoying it, especially if he is into film and game soundtracks. Now that I think about it, I remember thinking that Gravity Rush soundtrack reminded me of this album.
So there you go. I noticed not many people looked over my Noisia post last Friday, so I probably won't do long specials like that. It took me a while to look up all of that information and decide on tracks. As always, share what you have been listening to. I'm always open to new music.
