Hello everyone, and welcome to the Open Forum, which is hosted by Kotaku's reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about life, video games, or anything else, so feel free to hop in and join in the topic discussion, or comment about anything. Then, when you're done, feel free to peruse the articles on TAY and TAYClassic. Is this your first time on TAY or the Open Forum? Then check out this handy TAYTorial!
The other day I started playing Earthbound for the first time ever. I haven't played that much yet, but as I started, I realized I know virtually nothing about the game. I know it's a classic for most people. I know it's well loved. What I don't know it why. And I find that's an amazing thought. In an era of every game being known on the internet (and me reading so much info I don't know how I retain a tenth of it), I find it refreshing to know nothing. It's like being a kid again and hearing about a game or seeing a box and thinking I have to have that. I didn't think it was possible anymore, and yet here is Earthbound. It's also confusing to me how I don't know more about it. It's not like it's a new game.
So have you had an experience like this? Or something that surprised you in game that you should have known?
Also, no Earthbound spoilers! I've waited almost 20 years to play it and I'm happily ignorant so far. :)
And something for my fellow Borderlands 2 lovers...or lovers of money who happen to have the game: Borderlands 2 $100,000 Loot Hunt!
You have to have or make a Shift Account to be entered, but really, most of us have them, right? And it starts today, so get hunting and looting!
Disclaimer: If you win anything in the contest because you saw it here, I want the prize...or recognition. Pick one.
If you don't want to talk about these things, feel free to talk about anything!
One last thing: Thank you all for yesterday's forum! You guys always put me in a better mood, and this morning I'm virtually stress-free. :)
And Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have good weekends!
