TAY: Open Forum

Illustration for article titled TAY: Open Forum

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Open Forum, which is hosted by Kotaku's reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about life, video games, or anything else, so feel free to hop in and join in the topic discussion, or comment about anything. Then, when you're done, feel free to peruse the articles onTAY and TAYClassic. Is this your first time on TAY or the Open Forum? Then check out this handy TAYTorial! If you still can't get enough of us, stop by theIRC Chatroom. Finally, if you need to reach an admin or author, find them fast in theDirecTAYry.

I have a confession to make: sometimes I find writing the open forums incredibly awkward. I even told Nach the other day. This talk show host thing does not come naturally to me. It's something about feeling insecure that no one would want to listen to me talk unprompted. Basically, I'm bein' a Shinji.

The topic of the day is overcoming obstacles! Like this presentation I saved to the last minute Monster Hunter! Recently I hit a tough spot where all the fun I was previously having turned into frustration and I rarely came away from playing the game in a better mood than I started. Last night, I decided to try new strategies and be more aggressive. What do you know, I was decimating monsters in twenty minutes that it had been taking me almost the full time limit to beat before!

When did coming into something with a new plan or fresh eyes help you get your mojo back? Talk about this or anything else below!

Note to the open forum authors: I used a newish intro that includes the DirecTAYry. I think it might be good to make this standard for the OF since we've been getting new authors lately and it'd be cool if we could all find each other easily.
