Hello everyone, and welcome to the Open Forum, which is hosted by Kotaku's reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about life, video games, or anything else, so feel free to hop in and join in the topic discussion, or comment about anything. Then, when you're done, feel free to peruse the articles on TAY, AniTAY, and TAYClassic. Is this your first time on TAY or the Open Forum? Then check out this handy TAYtorial! If you still can't get enough of us, stop by the IRC Chatroom. Finally, if you need to reach an admin or author, find them fast in the DirecTAYry.
The torch has been passed! As your new Friday host I feel like I have some big shoes to fill. Dams always had interesting topics here so I hope I can do the same. I've been asked to fill in five times already so I guess I'm doing alright.
Yet somehow now that I'm not just a fill in forum host I can't seem to come up with a topic. So let's turn that into a topic! Writer's block. It's an issue I have a lot even when I know what I want to say. When I do come up with something to write about I find myself getting stuck because I can't seem to figure out how to write the things I want to write. I just get so caught up on the wording and just get stuck on one sentence for hours. Although I do know people who are worse than me (you know who you are).
Oddly most of the time my writer's block strikes me when I'm writing things that will never see the light of day anyway. I frequently write stories for fun that I don't plan on anyone else reading but I've never finished a single one because I can't figure out what to say next. I have the whole plot planned out in my head but I don't know how to put it into words.
So as not to keep rambling on, I pass it to you TAY. Do you ever suffer from writer's block? Do you ever write things you don't plan on sharing? Do you have tips for solving writer's block? Do you want someone to pass you a torch? Sound off below on these questions or just ignore them and Talk Amongst Yourselves about whatever you like!
