Hello everyone, and welcome to today's Open Forum! I'm TheUnfathomableTruth, and I'll be your charming host for today~

So. How about them RPGs? Specifically, the type of game where you create your own character. You know, I'm not at all an authority on the subject, but actually role-playing as your character is pretty fun. It really allows for a more immersive experience, and depending on how you do it, you can make your playthrough very unique and varied. The first time I played Skyrim, I made quite possibly the most generic character ever. I mean, I literally recreated the Dragonborn as close as possible. I even named him "Dovahkiin" . . . But after getting a bit bored of it, I decided to try out new characters. Now, I may not be adventurous enough to try out nonhuman characters, for some odd reason, I'm actually more inclined to play as a female character than as a dude. "Well, big deal TUT. Whatever." right? Yea, I agree, it's definitely not a big deal at all. But it's definitely another interesting aspect about gaming. I mean, it's not the same as when you play a game where the protagonist is by default a certain gender and has a specific backstory, since I usually end up trying to act like the character regardless. But in games where you're free to create an avatar for yourself and your actions, your individuality plays a vital role.

There's really generally no major differences when I play as a male character from when I play as a female. I'll still be a ranger-warrior type that prefers one-handed swords over to the bulky stuff, but certain choices may differ. I've noticed I'm a bit more inclined to try out magic and focus on leveling evenly across more fields when I play as a girl than when I play as a guy. I'm also more inclined to be more solitary, and avoid companions, or joining factions. But other than that, I'll still be fond of a bow, or enjoy the beauty of stealth every once in a while. And well, I found the contrast in character to be interesting. So what about you guys? What do you usually prefer playing as, and why? If you don't mind me asking :P
