Welcome to the Open Forum, hosted by Kotaku’s reader-run blog, TAY. Feel free to join in the topic discussion, or talk about anything here. Is this is your first time on TAY? Come in and say hi, and make sure to check out the other articles on TAY, AniTAY and TAYClassic. If you wanna share your own articles then read this TAYTorial!

I drew this. I’m starting to run out of pictures in http://skeletorislove.tumblr.com so sometimes I’ll try make my own ones.

Good morning you lazy loaf!

And welcome to an superspecial open forum. Today is almost exactly a year ago I wrote my first open forum. So I thought this would be a good time for looking back at the year. (No, not a game of the year list.) So forgive me if I spend this opening with a little self indulgence.

When I was chosen by the gods (Or Narelle Ho Sang.) to write these, I knew I wanted my spot on the Open forums to have a consistent style, and be optimistic in tone. Hence why Skeletor has been on the front of pretty much everyone of them. It felt nice that every time I make a Open forum they are recognizable. Like I imagine that the open forum is something you might check out in the middle of work right before lunch, and it’s light hearted and humorous. Something you want a Tuesday morning. That was at least the plan, but I can admit I’ve had periods when my mood just wasn’t there. But then I have at least tried to be open about it and make a subject for all of you to talk about.

Speaking of you, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has read my stuff and who has shared their own thoughts on anything. It’s been blast to be able to contribute here in a pretty small way yet still get so much feedback from it. One amazing thing about it is that all the hundreds of comments I read over the year has never felt hostile or mean spirited in any way. Not even the grays. No one has even pointed out my terrible spelling. (Although maybe you should huh? Not gonna learn anything if it goes unnoticed. Just saying.) I think that is a pretty good sign that we have decent community here. I’ve also appreciated when people becomes extra personal and shared their troubles or feelings. When that happens it feels like I’ve done something right at least.

So yeah, that is pretty much all I wanted to say. Heres to another year of Skeletor! :)

Here are some suggested conversations to talk about today:

  • Talk about yourself, what doe you wanna share about you right now? Like something you’ve done or just how you feel at the moment.
  • Let’s talk about TAY, how do you feel about it as a community at the moment?
  • We often talk about games here, but what are you other interests?
  • Or goddamn you, you can talk about anything! :D

(Paprika was such a good movie. Like wow. I should watch again.)
