Well, it’s nice to know I can still pull an Open Forum out of my butt with less than 30 minutes notice. How many years has it been since I’ve done one of these? Shoot, how long has it been since I’ve actually written an article? I don’t een know how this new-fangled Kinja works! Imma just keep typing and we’ll see what happens.

So, how’s everyone been? Play any good games over the weekend? I played some Monster Hunter (of course), but what I had the most fun playing had to be the new Star Wars Battlefront beta. I tried it on PS4 and PC, and have to say I definitely prefer the PC version over the PS4. I just felt it was so much easier to use and control.

Except for the star fighters...those sucked to control with the mouse and keyboard. That should never be a thing.

Anyway, I guess the topic for today will be betas! Who here has participated in a beta? Did you actually use it for testing the game, or did you use it as a glorified demo to see if you actually wanted to buy the game? Has a beta or demo actively made or broken your decision to buy a game at launch or in the future?

I’ve got one for you. I was part of the SW: TOR beta, and I have to say, it kept me from buying the game. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t stable or engaging enough to get me to pay $60 for the base game plus a monthly subscription. However, this Battlefront beta definitely sold me on getting this one.

So yeah, hop on in! Talk about the topic (or not). If you’re new to TAY, feel free to dip your big toe in and test out the water! I promise that very few of us bite with the intention to draw blood.
