Good morning Tay!
You know those moments when you sit with someone and have nothing to talk about. Perhaps you just meet, are coworkes who don’t know eachother. Or just forced into eachother in another way. I find a lot of humor in people trying to break the awkward silence. But I do find that funny because it is relatable, and we all been there. I don’t even know if I am good at making conversations.
Like when you go on dates, trying to figure out what to talk about can be such a pain. I think used to get too focus to get to know the person life story within an hour before. Now I try just talk about any random thing I would talk about with a friend. I can get to know personal stuff later. I can’t say this is a better approach but at least I have more fun.
One thing I enjoyed about traveling solo in Japan was how easy it could be to start a conversation with people. Like often people come to you out of curiosity and started to talk. That never happens back home. It was also really easy to talk with other tourists. If I went to a temple I could just comment whatever I was seeing out loud next to someone, and they would be like “yeah” and start saying something. If I would do that at home I would probably be shunned from society.
Or is it only me imagining it? Would it be so bad starting a conversation with a random person?
Anyway. Here are some suggested topics for today:
- Are you good at making conversations? Recall any embarrassing memories when you tried to break the silence?
- Do you ever start a conversations with a random stranger? Like at a bus stop or something?
- Which game has the best conversations? Or which multiplayer game have you had the best conversations in?
- Or talk about anything.
I am not sure if I actually like this song. But I keep coming back to it lately.
