This week Skeletor meets an old friend.
Today I was at work. I’m kinda proud and annoyed at the same time that I was, because I was pretty sick. I had a cold and my coworkers noticed it. But the thing is that I have called in sick so many days this year that I really didn’t wanna do that. I kinda need the money to for a vacation I am planning. (Over here you loose your salary from the first day you call in sick. Then for two weeks you get 70% of the salary.)
It’s kinda interesting that I’ve been sick so much this year. At my previous job I almost never called in sick. Like they showed me the numbers from the years I worked there and I was far below the average. That has not been the case at my current job. Like just a few days after I started working there I had to stay at home for 2 weeks due troubles with my stomach. I have never been that long away from work before.
Although I think another reason I call in sick more these days is that my current job is far more demanding. Like at my previous job I just sat by the phone all day, where the biggest challenge was not becoming a zombie. That’s pretty much the opposite from how my work is these days where I can have really rough days now and then. And the more I work there it feels like people rely on me more. Which is overall a nice thing, but that also means I have to stay focused more. So I think I would choose to stay at home more now if I was not feeling well than before.
That’s the end of my ramblings. Here are some suggested topics to talk about today:
- Do you get sick often? How has this year been for you?
- Do you feel “appreciated“ at work/school? Or do you feel like just another cog in the machine?
- Or talk about anything.
