Happy Wednesday, TAY.
Here we are in the middle of the month, and instead of playing all the things I said I would for four in February, I’m not getting anywhere near that goal. Finish Fire Emblem: Fates Conquest? Ha! Finish World of Final Fantasy? Balderdash! You so funny, TAY. You so funny.
Instead, I’m playing a game I completed back in 2005. Not one I even enjoyed, honestly. Sorry, Dragon Quest VIII.
Granted, DQVIII was re-released for the 3DS a few weeks ago and it has new features or whatever. But it’s not often I take the time to replay a game. I can count which ones I have and they’re less than I can count on my fingers.
So why DQVIII again? A game I recall not loving? Because I believe in giving second chances. Particularly for a series I really love, and with renewed eyes and reasoning that comes with experience. I haven’t decided just yet if I’m liking it this time around because I’m not too far in just yet. Just under 20 hours or so. But I don’t feel as though I’m wasting my time either (except for the feeling that I am because I could be playing something new or finishing what I started).
For Today’s Suggested Topic(s):
- Are you in the business of replaying games? If so, why? A yearly ritual? And which games?
- Have you re-played a game you didn’t like, and thought it was better the second time around? (This can apply to movies, TV shows etc too)
- If you wanted to give a game a second chance, which would it be?
- What’s for lunch?
Maybe I overreacted in 2005
As always, feel free to Talk Amongst Yourselves if ain’t nobody got time for chance cards. Don’t forget that the Discord Chatroom is always around too for continuing, real-time conversations.
