I was sitting down thinking of what to do to pad out my writing for the SixTAY Days of Writing challenge, and an idea came to me. Let’s write a fun little story together. Or rather, I’ll write a story for you with your help.
A while back, abracadaniel tried a story thing here on TAY where he would write a bit then ask TAY to write their own contributions in the comments and then he’d use the most starred ones to continue the story. Unfortunately, it petered out because not enough people participated. Now I’m going to try my hand at something similar, but I’m going to do most of the legwork so it’s a lot quicker and easier for you guys to participate! Each step of this process will contain a little poll survey thing for you all to fill out or have some kind of question to answer that will help move the story along. That is, of course, if you guys are interested in this experiment
To get the ball rolling, let’s start to figure out what kind of story we shall be writing together. Let’s begin with a setting. This is the part where I do the information gathering thing I was talking about. I’ll ask a few simple questions and use your answers to generate our setting. I know you all have busy lives, so this will be something you can do in 3 minutes or less!
1. Choose one of the following settings/themes:
- Medieval Fantasy
- Modern Day/Near Future
2. Choose one of the following plot hooks:
- An External or Internal Threat
- A Quest for Treasure
- A New Land to Explore
- A Mystery to Solve
- Something Else (Please Specify)
3. Name a legendary object that might be found in the setting you selected above.
And that’s it for now. Just 3 simple questions to get the ball rolling. Expect the next post soon.
