During quite a long bout of trying to avoid doing actually decent work yesterday, I found myself looking through all of the upcoming releases for the next couple of months. DOA5 had another edition coming out, as well as some of the stuff by Nintendo, but after I looked through all of that I couldn't help but notice that there was a new Dynasty Warriors sequel coming out. Well, not exactly a sequel, more like a $50 addendum, but still.
After remembering how much fun I had with Hyrule Warriors, I started going through all of the interesting features that the game had. Apparently there are now marriages, some form of army building, and the ability to make your own character. Just… from a very broad perspective, it sounded like a lot of the things that I loved about Fire Emblem: Awakening (and coincidentally, what a lot of veterans of the series hated me for enjoying so much).
Then I remembered what Hyrule Warriors combat was like, and while I thought it was incredibly relaxing, I'm not sure I could really call it fun—especially in a setting that I'm not entirely familiar with, like I am with Hyrule. I've just decided to hold off and sit on it a bit for now. Maybe in a few weeks when the release date is closer I'll get hyped about it, but… I don't know.
Dynasty Warriors just seems like one of those series I'll never quite be comfortable with, despite somewhat enjoying what I've played. Ever had that feeling before? Maybe I'm just crazy.
