Tonight I’m Gonna Party Like It’s 1959

Happy Weekend TAY!

I know I’m jumping the gun a bit, but I want to wish you all a safe and happy New Year. It is bitterly cold around these parts, so the prospect of outdoor celebrations are likely off the table. I guess I’ll have to leave Kim Mitchell and The Practically Hip (a Tragically Hip cover band) for another year...who am I kidding, I wasn’t going out in any weather for that. I’m likely going to stay home with the family, wait for them all to fall asleep well before midnight, and then jump into The Witcher 3.

I hardly gamed at all last week with the holiday visitors and my son’s birthday. We bought him Dropmix which seems pretty cool, though we haven’t had a chance to sit down and play the actual game. We also went to see The Last Jedi on his birthday and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The movie has several issues, but the overall presentation is very good. I’m looking forward to watching it again when it comes home; they sure packed a lot of info into two and a half hours.

I found a little time last week to play a bit of The Witcher 3 here and there and kept up with my Age Of Wonders 3 email game. There was also the traditional playing of the Jackbox Party Packs with my extended family that was here for my son’s birthday.

The only new game I played over the past few days was a small amount of Thumper which I picked up on the latest Steam Sale. I probably should have watched some videos of the gameplay before purchasing it. It doesn’t seem nearly as trippy as I was led to believe and the gameplay sucks so far. Also, calling it a rhythm game really seems to be a stretch. I’m hoping it improves in the later stages; my reactions to the game seem to be at odds with the many glowing reviews I have read.

I may or may not have more family visiting this weekend (I hate non-committal guests during this busy time of year), so my time for gaming is still very much up in the air. Hopefully, I’ll soon be able to start getting back to The Witcher 3 in earnest.

So, what are you playing this weekend?
