Moving. Moving never changes.
Happy weekend, TAY!
It may not be Miami, but Tampa is just as good. As you can guess, I’m covering for Datacide this week, so bear with me while I regale you with my adventures in moving.
I’ve been settling in for the better part of a week after moving from Columbia, SC, and so far, I think I’m liking the new surroundings. First off, there’s no train tracks near me, so when I’m sleeping in the night, there’s no odd train whistle going off in my head. And while the place I’m currently living doesn’t have an entry gate, I think this area is pretty safe based on the neighbors I’ve seen thus far. Knock on wood.
It’s been raining pretty much every day I’ve been here so far, so that might be something I’ll have to adjust to when I have to report to work late next week. But one perk so far is that there’s a variety of takeout places that serve more than just sweet tea and biscuits. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but give a man a choice. So far I’ve been treating myself with some Jet’s Pizza and some thai delivery. Man, thai curry is so good!
But I digress.
I’ve been getting a lay of the land as well as slowly unpacking boxes. So far I’ve gotten my Internet service installed (hence my posting this weekend), set up the living room and bedroom televisions and streaming boxes, and set up the bedroom and living room so it looks habitable. I still have to resupply the kitchen pantry with food, but since this is a new start, I think I’m going to stick mainly to salads from here on out. Which is a definite choice given my increase in food selection.
I just got back from Best Buy since I needed a streaming box for the cable television, but I forgot to pick up a switcher, so I’ll have to go back tomorrow to rectify this oversight. And I was so sure I had everything as I walked out of Best Buy earlier today. Regardless, I would say that the move has been a success thus far.
As for gaming, I took a hard look and decided to only unpack the PS4 for the bedroom, the PS4 Pro for the living room, and the Switch for both areas. Therefore, the PS3, Vita, Wii U, and 3DS remain in boxes, along with their requisite software. I know I’ll probably dig out the PS3 at some point since I routinely play through Mass Effect 2/Mass Effect 3, but who knows? Maybe EA will cash in and finally release a remaster of the ME Trilogy. If wishes were horses.
However, in the meantime, I’m still on that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 grind. I hear that there’s been new content added to the game, so I’m hoping to jump back on that and wrap up the main quest this weekend as I continue to unpack and get acclimated with my new place and surroundings.
I’m still digging my time in XC2, but given the brief respite due to the move, I wonder how difficult it’s going to be diving back into this world since the game mechanics are somewhat complicated if you’re not paying attention. Regardless, that’s the least of my problems right now.
So, what are you playing this weekend?
