The Graveyard Shift: Impulse

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Graveyard Shift, which is hosted by Kotaku's reader-run blog, TAY. Then, when you're done, feel free to peruse the articles on TAY and TAYCLASSIC. Is this your first time on TAY or the Graveyard Shift? Then check out this handy TAYtorial!

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to try to cut down on buying things for a bit after my latest keyboard/mouse purchase. I lasted for a little bit, but then I bought a bunch of junk at the mall yesterday and, to top if off, I went and bought The Wolf Among Us on Steam. It was just too tempting - I couldn't hold back. To be honest, I'm actually kind of excited to play it. I've had almost no luck with Telltale's The Walking Dead series, as I just can't get it to run for whatever reason, so I'm really hoping that this one is at least better optimized. I'll try harder to get it running, that's for sure. Plus, deep down, I think I just wanted to join our resident Furby's review project.

There's one problem, though: my internet has been terrible the last couple of days. I first noticed it whenever I was trying to download a 4GB file for DOTA2 this week for Game Night (you should totally vote for next weeks PS3 game, by the way). Usually I can download about 1GB an hour, but this time it took me three days to download the file. Three. Days. People kept saying that Steam was being weird about letting users download DOTA2, but no, I'm pretty sure that it's actually just my internet. I even lost the ability to watch videos in 360p a few days ago. Back then, I blamed it on YouTube, but ... now I know the truth.

Anyway, the point is, I made a stupid impulse buy and now I'm regretting it since I won't be able to play The Wolf Among Us for quite some time. I'm guessing late Saturday. Oh well, it's not like I'm lacking in other things to do besides that.

So what about you, TAY - what sort of impulse buys have you made lately? Did you come home one day with a motorcycle? Did you buy that sandwich that you kept telling yourself not to?

Did the topic not interest you? Are you self-control incarnate? Well then, feel free to use this to talk about your day, share some interesting news, or whatever else you desire! The Thursday Graveyard Shift is now open!
