Welcome to the Graveyard Shift! Some of you may not recognize me because I've been gone from the shift for so long, but I'm returning to take back my Thursday duties from TheUnfathomableTruth. Thanks again for covering me while I was on my two trips!
I had actually planned to do this article a while ago, but left it half-finished before I left on my trips. So tonight, I'm going to give it another go and make the topic for the night something that everyone has their own little takes on: Gaming routines. Everyone has this little routine they do for when they sit down to game. In fact, one of my favorite articles here so far was the article discussing the "things we add to games" that Damson posted about not too long ago, which is kind of close to what I'm talking to.
More specifically, I'm talking about what you do when you sit down to play, and how you play throughout the night. Things like beverages, music, gaming behaviors, maybe even something like a change of clothes.
As an example, whenever I play my Go-To game (Team Fortress 2), I usually grab a cup of coffee and play some kind of bass-heavy music (I now have a TF2 playlist composed of songs by bignic, Phantogram, and a few other songs picked out from other soundtracks or albums). Most of the time, if I'm going to be playing for more than an hour, I go to a more casual-play server, like the Valve servers, as a warm-up before hopping around to try to find more intense matches.
Eventually, as the night dies down, I start acting sillier and sillier with my playstyles to try to get myself to relax myself a little bit and not be as on-edge. Those of you who see me running at you as a Demopan in TF2 or holding a hunting knife in Red Dead Redemption now know what that's all about.
I also always wear slippers when I game now. Not quite sure when that happened, but ... it did.
So what about the rest of you? Do you have some sort of routine you go through when you know you'll have a night free for gaming? It can be anything from having a certain kind of beverage to sitting in a particular spot on your couch.
Did the topic just not interest you? Maybe it was just too personal? Feel free to use this to talk about your day, share some interesting news, or whatever else you desire! The Thursday Graveyard Shift is now open!
