The Graveyard Shift: Songs To Cool-Off In The Summer

Illustration for article titled The Graveyard Shift: Songs To Cool-Off In The Summer

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Graveyard Shift, the nightly hang-out hosted by Kotaku’s reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about anything - your lives, your gaming habits, or whatever else you desire. Hop on in and join the discussion! When you’re done here, you could always go check out the articles over at TAY or TAYClassic! Or, if this is your first time at TAY, please check out this TAYtorial!

Woof... Good evening TAY. Is it nightime already? Summer is in full bloom down here in S. Florida and while the drough is finally gone, the high temperatures still remain after a four-hour deluge. No matter what, the heat won’t go away.

I try to picture myself in a gorgeous tundra, or a lovely snowy mountain to fool myself into thinking the air out there is not as bad. But there are times when my imagination is not enough... sometimes I need something else to trick my brain that I’m in a winter wonderland!

Introducing: Songs to Cool-off in the Summer!

Simply put I came up with my own playlist of wintery songs in videogames, similar to that list I made for Christmas but without the horrible feelings of Freezezy Peak.

I’m thinking of songs like Cool Cool Mountain from Super Mario 64...

Or maybe something newer, like this beautiful track from Yoshi’s Woolly World...

Anyway for tonight’s topics:

  • Share YOUR song to cool-off in the summer!
  • If you could travel to any place in the world right now, where would you go?
  • What about your favorite drink to battle the scorching heat?

As always, feel free to Talk Amongst Yourselves, specially if you are hungry like me (or you don’t like tonight’s topic as much as I thought you would)! It is the Graveyard Shift, after all. Don’t forget that the IRC Channel is always around for you to carry out discussions as well. If you wanted to give an admin, author, and/or friend/enemy a shout: You can find them on the DirecTAYry.
