Hey everyone! Welcome to the Graveyard Shift, the nightly hang-out hosted by Kotaku’s reader-run blog, TAY. This is a place to talk about anything - your lives, your gaming habits, or whatever else you desire. Hop on in and join the discussion! When you’re done here, you could always go check out the articles over at TAY or Ani-TAY or the random blips of TAYClassic! Or, if this is your first time at TAY, please check out this TAYtorial!
When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone, my fellow TAYers? For the last three years I’ve tried my best to break the boundaries I have created myself.
Ever since I started frequenting TAY I did my very best to not to shy away from talking to people, being myself, and most important, having fun. It was easy to do it on the internet cause no one really knows you and after all you’re behind a veil that protects you. You know what they say... “On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a dog”
And while I’ve been practicing this new lifestyle for quite a while, this year I’ve pushed my limits even further. From the first day I tried to do as George did in that episode of Seinfeld, whatever I thought I went and did the opposite. Actually... I started overthinking less and acting more, and well the results couldn’t have been better. I’ve seen a huge progress not only in a professional level but personal too.
It was a perfect run, until last night. On last friday’s TTC I mentioned how I made a simple trip to Georgia a bit more interesting thanks to me taking the reins and guiding a group of some 20 or more fools lost in a city. In one of our many adventure we hit a karaoke bar, where I had the opportunity to talk to some of the locals. In one of those conversations about music a certain individual told me that I should listen to ‘Trap’ Music.
Last night while talking to a friend I remembered that conversation. I went to Youtube and started listening to this new genre....
....I presume this is the sound of the cry of a thousand whales being murdered. Never again TAY, never listen to the musical advice of a stranger in Georgia.
On other unrelated news, I got myself a PlayStation TV! Now I can play all those Vita games I never planned to play!
Tonight’s topic are all about exploring the boundaries we set ourselves:
- When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone?
- Do you regret any of the actions you’ve done while out there?
- Has anyone ever recommended a music genre that you’ve never heard of? How did it go?
- Any Vita game you could recommend me?
As always, feel free to Talk Amongst Yourselves, specially if you are hungry like me (or you don’t like tonight’s topic as much as I thought you would)! It is the Graveyard Shift, after all. Don’t forget that the IRC Channel is always around for you to carry out discussions as well. If you wanted to give an admin, author, and/or friend/enemy a shout: You can find them on the DirecTAYry.
