Hype incarnate

Boy do I have some events for you this week. There’s one event in particular that I’m excited to let you know about. Sometimes what you need for an exciting tournament is the right people. Pokchop always brings the hype.

The Mixup 2018

Smash.gg

Our main Tekken World Tour and Capcom Pro Tour event for the week. The Mixup 2018 is the first Tekken tournament after the release of the Season 2 patch. But it has been confirmed that they will be running season 1. Which means SCR next week will be the first tournament to actually run season 2. The Mixup is a masters event for Tekken, and we’ll be a seeing a lot of Korean assassins.

Red Bull Conquest Qualifier – Atlanta

Smash.gg

This is it, this is my most anticipated event of the week. I’ve been loving these Red Bull Conquest events. The finals are gearing up to be something very special. This week they are headed to Tekken Hype City, AKA Atlanta, Georgia. It’s a big Tekken city with the most hype players in the country, including Mr Hype, Pokchop, himself. Along with Sperogin, PG Speedkicks, and Red Bulls sponsored Anakin. This is gonna be crazy. You’re gonna wanna tune into this one. No round brown time!

Red Bull Conquest: Rise - Buffalo

Smash.gg

This Red Bull event is happening on the same day as the Atlanta one. At least that’s what it says on the Smash.gg page. They’ve done similar things before and I think it somehow worked out. Let’s the two don’t conflict. I don’t wanna miss any of the hype. They didn’t bother listing any kind of schedule, unfortunately. That being said, the entire top 8 of Tekken and Street Fighter, along with the top 6 for Guilty Gear qualify for the finals, as opposed to the winner. Which I find kind of unfair.

Treta Championship Series 2018

Smash.gg

Over in Brazil we have the Cristo Redentor blessing the Treta Champsionship Series. I mean the statue, not the song by Donald Byrd. But I hope they play the song too, it’s great. I’m pretty sure the stream is going to be in Portuguese. I used to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion in Portuguese, but I couldn’t understand a word. Still can’t.

Vivaldi Autumn

Smash.gg

Streaming in from Oslo, Norway we have a Smash Event that’s also doubling as a Tekken 7 event, called Vivaldi Autumn. I wonder if they’ll be running season 2 of Tekken 7. With over 150 attendants, this is looking like a great opportunity to see some more European(s) smash.

Retro Rumble 2018

Smash.gg

Despite boasting multiple games, I consider the Retro Rumble 2018 to be the premier Project M event of the week. Some of best players, like Malachi, are attending. It still lives up to the name though, tournaments in Smash 64, Street Fighter 2 Super Turbo, and Third Strike. But what I would give to see an MK3 tournament... With that said, it’s great that they got the schedule. But it’s useless to me without the stream links. :/

This is an interesting event. It’s a smash tournament where ranked players of any kind are forbidden from competing. It’s all about showcasing amateur talent.
