Adding to 2016’s already sizeable list of “things I never thought I would read about”, a large number of fans of Warner Bros.’s Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman have signed a petition, (which as of this writing has been finished by the author at 17,615 signatures), that hopes to end the website and its many dawning injustices. In the creator’s words:
“We need this site to be shut down because It’s Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews, Like
1- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016
2- Suicide Squad 2016
and that Affects people’s opinion even if it’s a really great movies”
(God, is it really called the DC Extended Universe? That sounds like exercise equipment or a gym.)
The petition was shut down by the author earlier today, who clarifies his intention:
Aug 3, 2016 — In fact i started this petition to gather dc fans to express our anger just for fun. I didn’t mean it to be taken that serious.
After thinking. I found this petition is pointless. And the only thing that it does is spreading a speech of hate and online fighting among the supporters and objectors . The movies is something to enjoy. And the hate and fight is the opposite of enjoying.
And after watching this videos
It’s an interesting response, one of that I’ve seen echoed often in regards to DC’s new film universe.
There’s a large divide between “the real fans” and the “critics” who seemingly, “don’t get it”, and while the author of this seems to have been making it in jest, it does represent a large portion of dialogue I’ve seen made online and in conversation with friends.
Meanwhile, I’ll be creating a petition to reboot Sliders with the original cast, if anyone is interested. Really tired of fucking around, ya know? Let’s get this done.
Slide on, SlideHards!
