Track: Casino Night Zone (1-Player) | Game: Sonic The Hedgehog 2 | Composer: Masato Nakamura

So as most of you know I've been playing through Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, and while the music in the game is not bad, it is extremely generic and unfitting for the events in the game.

I don't remember the Sonic games from the Sega Genesis ever having any memorable tracks, except for maybe Green Hill Zone and Marble Zone (but only cause I found the track to be annoying when I was a kid). But then I recalled that I did play the hell out of Sonic The Hedgehog 2, and there was a certain level that I loved to replay a lot, especially cause the music was so good. This song is extracted from that said level, Casino Night Zone, which actually contains no casino elements, except for that neon sign that says 'Casino' at the beginning of the level. It should have been called Pinball Fever Zone...

There's an updated arrangement of this track in the 2011 release, Sonic Generations, that came in the form of the Casino Night Zone Pinball.

Forgotten Cadences examines the less celebrated, but always unusual sounds of video game music.
